1. Were you surprised with how the vote went down? Did you expect to be turned on?
At the start of the round, I didn't think I would be turned on. The final 4 we had talked about was myself, Chelsea, Sydney, and Mick with the predictable Matt/Chelsea/Sydney final three. We did call ourselves the Careers with myself being Cato, Chelsea being Clove, Mick being Marvel, and Sydney being Glimmer. We didn't come up with these nicknames until after the Capitol rumors started.
I had known for a few rounds that Sandra was coming after me at final six. Sydney informed me and Chelsea about it, so we assumed that Sydney would side with us over her and that Sydney would be able to convince Mick to vote for Sandra as well. I was really overconfident about this, thinking that Sandra would fail, to the extent where I posted in my confessional saying I didn't want to win final six immunity so Sandra would go out of the game targetting me and would be more upset at Sydney for betraying her than at me for just targetting her back.
The night after the challenge, Sydney and I were researching past season end-game challenges to try to make sure we were prepared to stop Tom so he didn't break up our four by winning that. At that point, I felt really confident, and Sandra was nowhere to be seen which is how she's been most of the recent rounds. Last night before the vote, I saw Sandra and Tom sign on available on AIM and then Mick and Sydney started refreshing the board, so I started getting paranoid. Sydney confirmed to me and Chelsea that the vote would still be 4-2 with Sandra going and that only Sandra and Tom would vote for me. After the deadline, Sydney revealed that Mick voted for me. When results came up, Sydney said that she'd try to change Mick's mind on a re-vote. Then she told Chelsea that the plan was never for me to go to the end because she was paranoid about it being a final two and me winning the last challenge and taking Chelsea over her. So when she said this, we knew I was going home.
Apparently Sydney just forced a tie to allow herself more time to explain that she was taking me out to Chelsea and not make her betrayal of the Careers so direct and immediate.
2. Do you think they made the right move?
I think that Mick, Sandra, and Tom made the right move since they were the next three people who I wanted gone and thought would leave. I think for Sydney, taking me out was the smartest decision if she wanted the simplest path to the end with players like Mick and Tom who wouldn't go against her and with Sandra, who was closer to her than to Chelsea. I was actually loyal to Sydney down to the final three, but she was supposedly worried that I'd win final three immunity and take Chelsea to the finals over her if it was a final two situation. The only other justification I can think of for her targetting me was that she was worried I'd take away jury votes from her in the finals. Because I trusted Sydney, I basically put myself in a position where I didn't have the power to take her out if I tried, so I don't really like the justification of her taking me out because she didn't trust me. At the point in the game where I left, she held the power in the game and I didn't.
3. Was there any move you made that you regret now in hindsight?
Yeah, I wish that Chelsea and I actually would have teamed up with Mike, Savage, and Stephanie at final 9 to vote out Tom since that would weaken Sydney. We talked about it and just made the incorrect assumption that Sydney would be loyal to a Careers final four. Mick and Sydney also controlled the immunity idols, so voting for someone against their wishes was a risky move for the upcoming rounds. However, since I ended up in a position where I was leaving if I didn't win immunity at final 6, it would have been worth the risk of trying.
4. How do you expect the last few rounds to play out?
I'd like to see the Careers plan that we had before play out with Sandra and Tom leaving next and Chelsea, Mick, and Sydney in the finals. I expect to see Sydney in the finals no matter what since Mick and Tom won't vote for her to leave.
What I also expect is that Chelsea will be targeted the next two rounds if she doesn't win immunity. I'm not sure if Sydney would vote for her, but she could make sure that Mick, Sandra, and Tom do similar to what happened to me on the original vote this round so that Sydney's biggest threat to win leaves and Sydney's able to 'keep her hands clean' even though she's obviously the one who set it in motion.
5. Who are you rooting for? Against?
I'm rooting for Chelsea as she was my closest ally, and she was loyal to me to the end. I hardly even talked to Mick or Tom and didn't see their games so would be reluctant to vote for them. If Chelsea doesn't make finals, I'd consider voting for Sydney for the fact that she put herself in such a comfortable end-game position or voting for Sandra for the fact that she keeps surviving these votes that appear to be favored against her.
6. Who do you think deserves to make All Stars?
Chelsea and Sydney deserve to make it out of the people who are left. I'd have a difficult time justifying Mick and Tom. Sandra's borderline inactivity makes her addition questionable even though she's been a big character and made it further than they should have.
